12/27/2007: It's that time of year again, when many of you have either returned to Spanish Wells for another great season of fun in the sun, or you will be soon! We have already begun to see some considerable pick up in the amount of traffic on US 41 and Bonita Beach Road, and as we watch the skies, note also that huge flocks of birds have begun their southward migration. When you've been here all summer, as we have, it's sometimes kind of hard to imagine that in some parts of the country, it's actually starting to cool off a bit. That's certainly not the case here, as we've been setting record high temperatures for this time of year, with temperatures in the 90's almost every day. And still, we've not seen a great deal of rain this year, so we're probably looking at ongoing watering restrictions and an increased potential for brush fires in the season ahead. We are pleased to say, though, that hurricane season is nearly over, and we've certainly been blessed this summer, without even the threat of any potential dangerous storms. It's really sad to see what's going on out in California right now, with the horrible brush fires, and tremendous loss for the people involved. We need to keep those folks in our thoughts and prayers.
As for Spanish Wells, it seems they've completed the new irrigation system on the golf course over the summer months, and everything seems to be shaping up pretty nicely now, with new plantings underway, and everything looking fresh and green. Lake levels have returned to normal levels, and overall, the community looks great!
